FAQ

If you do not find your question listed, please send it to us by email.

Considerations when choosing a vehicle lift

  • Your (Future) Customers
Maybe the maximum lifting capacity right now is 6,000 kg, but what if heavier vehicles (e.g., trucks, wheel-loaders, buses and agricultural equipment ) come to your workshop for repair and maintenance? Do you also want to service these customers?

  • Lifting Capacity
Are you lifting vehicles with single axle or multiple axles, and vehicles with or without trailers? The total capacity of a vehicle lift is something different than the capacity per arm, piston or single column. You certainly don't want to overload the vehicle lift.
  •
  • Available Space
The available space in your workshop is also important to take into account. Always measure the height clearance. And ask yourself these questions:
    - Do you want a permanent place for your vehicle lift or one that can be moved around the workshop and therefore mobile?
    - Should you be able to use the vehicle lift outside on the job?
    - Do you want vehicles like trucks, buses, agricultural and construction equipment to be lifted and use the lift as a washing bay?
    - Are you renting space where construction work is not allowed?
    - If you are going to move to a different workshop location, should the vehicle lift be able to move with you?

  • Safety and Certification
What safety guarantees does the vehicle lift offer? Ask how the vehicle lift needs to be operated and what safety measures are involved. Make sure the vehicle lift you buy is in accordance with all product and legal requirements (CE, UKCE, ANSI/ALI-ALCTV, CSA Certified).

  • Training, Support and Warranty
Training should always come standard with the vehicle lift. Find out more about the the after-sales service and warranty on the products.

Mobile Column Vehicle Lifts

Workshop space is valuable. Mobile column vehicle lifts are manoeuvrable and can be easily moved around the workshop for the best location. Even outside for a job on the spot. No additonal construction work is needed. When not in use simply store away the mobile columns to create additional workspace.

Stertil-Koni offers mobile column vehicle lifts with a capacity ranging from 7,500 kg to 17,500 kg per column. Up to 32 mobile column vehicle lifts can be connected in one set and are fully synchronised. So even the largest articulated bus or road train (truck with mulitple trailers) can be lifted. Wireless, so there is no tripping hazard. The EARTHLIFT from Sterti-Koni is the envrionmetnally-friendly, wireless mobile lfiting solution. Re-charging of the batteries occurs during the descent of the lift. The maximum lifting height of the Stertil-Koni mobile column lifts are 1,850 mm and 2,060 mm.

Platform Vehicle Lift

A platform vehicle lift has two independent runways. You can easily “drive-on” and “drive-off”.

The Stertil-Koni SKYLIFT is a platform lift that has no crossbeams, no overhang and no base frame, offering complete freedom of movement. The mechanic can work ergonomically and safely standing upright under the vehicle and has accessibillity to all sides of the lifted vehicle. A toolbox trolley and other workshop equipment can easily be moved under the platforms. We offer lifting capacities of 20,00 and 35,000 kg and various platform lengths from 7-14,5 metres, in tandem configuration even 70,000 kg and 30 meters.

4-Post Vehicle Lift

A  4-post vehicle lift is a drive-on lift. Support is given by four posts which are anchored onto the concrete surface.

Stertil-Koni 4-Post vehicle liffts are available in various configurations, platform lengths and platform widths. The lifting capacity ranges from 5,500 kg to 60,000 kg.
The platforms have an extremely low drive-on height, suitable for low ground clearance vehicles. With the optional third platform our 4-posts are also the ideal vehicle lift for 3-wheel forklift trucks.

2-Post Vehicle Lift

A 2-Post vehicle lift is mounted onto the concrete surface and has support arms to lift the vehicle. Ideal for wheel-free maintenance.

The 2-Post FREEDOMLIFT of Stertil-Koni has telescopic support arms that allow the 2-post lift to easily and quickly be adjusted. It's baseless construction and absence of any rigid overhead cross-bar gives the mechanic unhindered, optimal access to the raised vehicle. We offer a wide range of lifting capacities from 5,500 kg up to 9,000 kg. The maximum lifting height ranges from 1,980 mm up to 2,045 mm.
Explore the benefits of the Stertil-Koni 2-Post vehicle lift.

In-ground Vehicle Lifts

In-grounds are vehicle lifts with their lifting assemblies installed below the workshop floor. In-ground vehicle lifts are installed into a special construction which is built into the floor.

Stertil-Koni offers two types of in-grounds. The DIAMONDLIFT with telescopic pistons and the ECOLIFT with a scissor construction. Both are completely flush mounted with the floor. The piston DIAMONDLIFT can be installed as either a cassette or frame-mounted version. It has lifting capacities from 30,000 kg up to 64,000 kg. The scissor ECOLIFT is an ultra-shallow construction and has low-rise axle-engaging sissors. Lifting capacities of the ECOLIFT ranges from 27,000 kg up to 54,000 kg. Both are available in two, three or four piston/scissors configuration, which can be used in tandem suitable for multiple axle vehicles. The vehicle lifts are aslo ideal for wheel-free maintenance.

Overview of Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts

In this case we can only speak for Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts and which safety guarantees apply to Stertil-Koni heavy duty vehicle lifts.

First of all, all operating requirements are explained in our Operation Manuals. This states, among other things, that the owner/employer ensures that operators are qualified and that they are trained in the safe use and operation of the hydraulic vehicle lift using Stertil-Koni's Operating Instructions. Ensure that all safety regulations are observed.

Thoroughly Tested and Complies With International Standards

Each of the Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts is thoroughly tested before they are put on the market: cycle tested 20,000 times with maximum load. Our vehicle lifts meet the most stringent safety requirements in the world, CE (Europe), ALI-ETL (USA) and CSA (Canada) hallmark is standard.

Unique Locking and Synchronisation System

ALL Stertil-Koni lifts feature an independent mechanical locking system that can be heard locking into place. The locking pawl is engaged by gravity with obstruction protection.
Our hydraulic lifting systems have microprocessor-controlled synchronisation. The synchronisation system is activated at a height difference of just 15* mm. This ensures safe and smooth lifting and lowering cycles, even in the event of an extremely uneven load distribution.
(*depending on the vehicle type)

Each Stertil-Koni vehicle lift has automatic build-in safety precautions, most have an automatic overload mechanism. Manual override lowering in the event of power outage is always possible.

Touchscreen Control:

Stertil-Koni vehicle lifts that are operated with ebright Smart Control prevent unauthorised operation. Make sure that the lift is subject to a regular program of scheduled maintenance. With ebright this is automatically indicated on the screen. It provides maximum visual information about the lifting process.

Floor factors — requirements can vary greatly between different heavy duty vehicle lift types and/or the lifting capacity of the lift — that need to be considererd are:

Always check with the building architect before installation for additional guidance in accordance with the conformity requirements.

  • A level floor is suggested for proper installation and level lifting.
Small differences in floor slopes may be compensated for by proper shimming. If a floor is of questionable slope, consider a survey of the site and / or the possibility of pouring a new level concrete slab.
  • DO NOT install lifts on any asphalt surface of any surface other than concrete
  • Rebar spacing (reinforcing within the concrete)
  • Minimum concrete thickness
  • Minimum compressive strength and reinforcement
  • In case of new concrete, adhere to the minimum recommended curing (or ageing) periods
  • Visually inspect the site where the vehicle lift is to be installed and verify the concrete is in good condition. If the concrete has cracks or other defects, please consult with a certified contractor before proceeding to install.

Every situation is unique.

Safety is one of Stertil-Koni’s top priorities. The automatic Reverse Roll-Off Protection System with optimum safety prevents the vehicle from inadvertently rolling-off of the lift.

This system also effectively lengthens the platform lengths compared to conventional platform lifts, and prevents contact and damage between the lift and the vehicle. This option is available for all SKYLIFT models and can be fitted to existing installations.

More information about the SKYLIFT

The synchronisation system of the Stertil-Koni mobile column vehicle lifts is activated at a height difference of just 15 mm (depending on the vehicle type). This ensures a safe and smoothrunning lifting and lowering cycle, even in cases where the distribution of the vehicle load is extremely uneven.

Each column lift has a potentiometer that detects the height position and passes it on to the control system.
The control system controls and protects the lifting system during raising and lowering in the following manner:

  • When there is an elevation difference of more than 15 mm and less than 30 mm, an extra correction valve in the hydraulic system opens until the elevation difference between the column lifts is eliminated.
  • Lowering will be interrupted when the elevation difference is more than 30 mm and less than 60 mm. A lifting fork may be blocked. The cause of the fault must then be traced. You can still lift and the correction valve in the hydraulic system will open until the elevation difference has been synchronised.
  • When the elevation difference exceeds 60 mm, the control voltage will be cut off, causing all movement to stop. The cause of the fault must then be traced.

The control system is designed so that any column lift can be controlled individually, and any pair of axles can be controlled individually.

Utilising the Continuous Recess® system, the In-ground vehicle lifts DIAMONDLIFT and ECOLIFT of Stertil-Koni are designed to accommodate vehicles with extremely low ground clearances.

The moveable lifting mechanism travels horizontally, while fully recessed below floor level,
making it easier and safer to lift heavy duty vehicles.

Ideal for city transit and articulated buses for example, preventing damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle.

The Stertil-Koni EARTHLIFT mobile column lift uses the patented Stertil-Koni Active Energy Retrieval System.

The principle of the Active Energy Retrieval System (AERS) is as brilliant as it is simple:
to use the energy generated by the raised vehicle as it comes back down.
In other words: regain the gravitational energy.

The EARTHLIFT can achieve up to 50 lifting cycles without battery charging.
This creates optimum productivity in the workshop. No more expensive downtime because of waiting for batteries to charge.

Lifetime Parts Guarantee

The synthetic runner wheel system is self-lubricating and therefore does not require any maintenance. Stertil-Koni offers a lifetime guarantee on this part.

Recyclable

The EARTHLIFT is the most environmentally-friendly, wireless mobile column lift in the world. Why?

  • The lifiting column is made of 98% recyclable components
  • The batteries are recyclabe
